Mortal Combat 9

Now Available

Synopsis:

The story begins after the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where almost all fighters are dead, leaving only Raiden and Shao Kahn. Defeated and about to be delt the final blow, Raiden uses his last attempt to cast a spell on his amulet, now shattered, to contact his past self and quote "He Must Win!" before he is killed.

During the events of the first game's tournament, hosted by Shang Tsung, the Raiden from that era possesses visions of the events from the future, he notices his amulet has cracked, signaling troubling times ahead. Across the tournament's battles, Raiden comes to the conclusion that Liu Kang is to win the tournament and save Earthrealm. He urges him to fight Shang Tsung. He does so and is victorious. However, despite the victory, Raiden's amulet cracks further, a sign that future events remain unchanged. Disappointed with Outworld's defeat, Shao Kahn orders Shang Tsung's execution, but relents after being given the proposal of holding the second tournament in Outworld. During the events of the tournament, due to Raiden's assistance of Smoke, whom was to be subjected to cybernetic transformation as per Lin Kuei orders, Sub-Zero instead undergoes the procedure, inadvertently altering the timeline. Raiden attempts to substitute Kung Lao as the champion of the new tournament. Kung Lao, however, is killed by Shao Kahn after defeating Kintaro, leaving Liu Kang to be champion once again.

Despite Liu Kang's seemingly fatal victory over Shao Kahn, Kahn launches an invasion of Earth despite warnings by the Elder Gods that by merging Outworld and Earthrealm, he will earn their wrath. Nightwolf halts Quan Chi's ritual. However, the interference causes Shao Kahn's forces to assault the headquarters of the Earthrealm warriors, where everyone except for Cage, Sonya, Raiden, and Liu Kang are killed by Sindel, with Nightwolf sacrificing himself to eliminate the empress.

Raiden then realizes that Shao Kahn is the one meant to win by merging the realms, not Liu Kang. Raiden inadvertently kills Liu Kang instead just as Kang is about to intercept Shao Kahn. Overwhelmed with grief and guilt over the loss of his friend as well as countless others, Raiden remorsefully surrenders to Shao Kahn voluntarily. The Elder Gods intervene, and grant him the power necessary to kill Kahn, freeing Earthrealm. Raiden vows to rebuild Earthrealm and tend to the injured with Cage and Sonya.

In the end, Quan Chi is seen meeting with Shinnok. The two discuss using Earthrealm's vulnerability in making the Netherrealm the dominating force in the universe.

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite: Release Date(2012)

Synopsis:

The events of the game take place in 1912. The player assumes the identity of Booker DeWitt, a disgraced former agent of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, who was dismissed for behavior beyond the acceptable bounds of the Agency. He is hired by mysterious individuals, aware of Columbia's location, and tasked to infiltrate the air-city and rescue a young woman named Elizabeth, who has been held aboard the air-city for the last twelve years. Though DeWitt finds Elizabeth easily enough, he quickly discovers that Elizabeth is central to the civil war raging in the city as each faction seeks to use Elizabeth to turn the tide of the conflict in their favor, forcing DeWitt and Elizabeth to trust each other in order to escape. To complicate matters, the pair is chased by "Him", a large, robotic bird-like creature who had been Elizabeth's friend over the last twelve years of her imprisonment.

A strange, but unexplained, shimmering effect as seen by DeWitt in the gameplay demo footage causes momentary changes to pictures, banners, and people, but the mystery behind these is yet to be explained. Furthering this mystery is the presence of possible anachronisms; for example in the gameplay demo footage, a record player in a bar plays a woman singing the lyrics to Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World".

Though the game takes place before the events of the previous two BioShock games (occurring in 1960 and 1968), Irrational Games has not confirmed if BioShock Infinite shares the same universe with these titles; Ken Levine left the question of the possibility unanswered in an interview stemming from the game's announcement.

Killzone 3

Killzone 3: Now Available

Synopsis:

The game begins in medias res from the point of view of (presumably) two Helghast soldiers who have arrived at Stahl Arms Corporation, Jorhan Stahl's weapons factory. The two are taken to an execution room where a captured Jason Narville's execution is about to be broadcast by Stahl across Helghan. As the two soldiers are about to execute Narville, they reveal themselves as Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko and Rico Velasquez and the scene cuts back six months earlier, immediately following the events of Killzone 2.

Sev and Rico regroup with Captain Jason Narville outside Scolar Visari's palace and they begin their evacuation towards the remaining ISA ships on Helghan, facing heavy resistance from organised Helghan troops led by Admiral Orlock, whose plan is well-received by most of the senate except for Jorhan Stahl, the chairman of Stahl Arms, the largest weapons manufacturer on Helghan. From the outset, the animosity between the two parties is made apparent. Rico separates from the group to rescue a squad who have encountered heavy resistance. All the ISA ships depart or are destroyed by the Helghast, leaving Sev and the rest of the ISA forces marooned on Helghan.

Jumping six months forward, the Helghast senate express their disappointment with Orlock's search for the remaining ISA forces, having initially promised that they would be dead within the hour . As a result, Stahl refuses to hand over his weapon prototype to the military, citing the Admiral as incompetent. Stahl organizes his private army to hunt down the ISA who are hiding in a Helghast jungle. Narville dispatches Sev along with a soldier named Kowalski to retrieve a satellite uplink in order to contact the Vektan government. Upon doing so, Earth Command informs Sev and Narville that the ISA has surrendered and that they are to surrender. The Helghast soon track the ISA in the jungle, ending with their capture.

Rico and his men, who have been separated from the main group for six months, are able to rescue Sev, who convinces them to save Narville and the rest of the captured ISA forces. They track them to Stahl's base and discover a horrifying new weapon using irradiated Petrusite, a compound that causes victims to explode. Disguised as Narville's executioners, Sev and Rico rescue Narville in addition to freeing some of their men held as prisoners of war and used as test subjects for Stahl's new weapons. On their way out, Rico and Sev discover Stahl's plan to destroy Earth and the ISA chase Stahl's cruiser to the Helghast orbital elevator.

Embarrassed by Stahl's failure to execute Narville, Stahl is ordered to turn over his new weapons to the Helghast military by Orlock, who has now become Helghan's dictator (Autarch). He is made to meet with Orlock at the space station where he plans to kill Stahl. The remaining ISA soldiers arrive at the orbital elevator and ride up to the space station to stop Stahl from attacking Earth. Stahl turns on Orlock, murdering him after a brief fight, and makes preparations to bombard Earth. The remaining ISA forces hijack two fighters and Sev manages to shoot down Stahl's cruiser. Unwilling to let Stahl escape the cruiser, he drops a nuke on the falling cruiser, releasing massive amounts of Petrusite into Helghan's atmosphere. The Petrusite engulfs the entire planet and wipes out everything on its surface. Jammer then reports that Helghan has gone dark and Sev contemplates on the many lives on the planet obliterated by the Petrusite.

In a mid-credits scene, two Helghast soldiers are searching through some ruins when they come across an escape pod. Though the occupant's identity is not revealed, both soldiers bow and say, "Welcome home sir.", heavily implying that Stahl survived and managed to escape his cruiser before it was destroyed.

Rage

Rage: September 13, 2011

Synopsis:

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland created by an asteroid impact, based on the real life asteroid Apophis, which is on track to pass near Earth in 2036. In Rage's story, the asteroid strikes on August 23, 2037, and the few pockets of survivors are forced to begin a new civilization.

The world is populated by human survivors of the impact, who have come together to form settlements around oases and other practical or habitable locations. These fragile homes are diligently defended by the inhabitants against bandits and mutants, which have organization of their own. Bandits and mutants serve as the player's main enemies for much of the game, although id Software has hinted at some sort of significant change around the halfway point in the storyline.

The player emerges into this setting after being preserved inside an underground shelter called an Ark. The Arks are the direct result of the Eden Project, a massive international undertaking in which hundreds of Arks (cryogenic pods) were sealed under the surface of the Earth with twelve people inside each. Each passenger possessed a special talent or trait that, combined with those of the other members, would help them rebuild mankind. The Eden Project, however, was far less successful than hoped. The player's Ark in particular is in sorry shape upon the start of the game - all of the other residents of the player's Ark are dead (presumably because of the impact), and the equipment of the Ark is destroyed as well, and so the player wakes up alone and uninformed. With no memory of his identity or objective, the player is forced to head for the surface to find sustenance and allies.

Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2: N/A

Synopsis:

In the 250 years since the events of Guild Wars, the Elder Dragons have awoken. As massive forces of nature, these dragons have wreaked destruction across the continent of Tyria, forever changing its face and its inhabitants. The player is thrown into the midst of this destruction. Each character has its own biography which affects the story and how non-player characters react. As the game progresses, organizations can be joined and situations approached in different ways; these influences change the experience of the story as it advances towards the final confrontation with the Elder Dragon, Zhaitan. There are therefore thousands of different story permutations possible.

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2: Now Available

Synopsis:

The game begins in a hospital on the Sprawl, a densely populated metropolis built on a shard of Titan, one of Saturn's moons. Isaac Clarke has no memory of the last three years, having just been released by Franco, the protagonist of Dead Space Ignition. However, before he can remove the straitjacket, Franco is killed and transformed into a necromorph, leaving Isaac to escape on his own. He is later contacted by a woman named Daina, who guides him to her location. He is also contacted by another patient, Nolan Stross, claiming he and Isaac can destroy the Marker. Ignoring Stross, Isaac fights his way across the city, making his way to Daina. Upon his arrival, two guards seize Isaac as Daina reveals that she is a Unitologist sent to "recover" Isaac, claiming that he is responsible for building the Marker that is causing the current infestation and that they need him to build more. As they are about to leave, Titan Security officers gun down Daina and her associates, allowing Isaac to escape. Stross contacts Isaac again and he reluctantly decides to trust Stross, as his only mission now is to destroy the Marker. Stross tells Isaac that the Marker is located in the Government Sector under lockdown. As he makes his way there, Isaac comes across another survivor, Ellie Langford, a CEC officer who eventually joins their mission, deciding that she needs their help to survive. As they progress through the Sprawl, the station's administrator, Hans Tiedemann, throws several obstacles in their way to stop them from getting to the Marker. Later, Stross' dementia worsens, causing him to attack Ellie. She survives, and later Isaac is forced to kill Stross in self-defense. As he fights his way to the Marker Isaac experiences visions of Nicole, which become more vivid as she tries to deter him from his task. Eventually he comes to accept that he cannot run away anymore, and that his destiny is to sacrifice his life to stop the Marker, causing the Nicole visions to become friendly.

Upon reaching the Government sector, Isaac sends Ellie away alone on a gunship, despite her protests. He does this because he reasons that, even though he could not save Nicole, there is still time for him to save Ellie. Once inside, he releases the doors holding back the necromorphs trying to get to the Marker, who overwhelm Tiedemann's men. Issac eventually comes upon the Marker, which is surrounded by necromorphs. As Isaac looks on, the Marker begins "convergence", an event foretold by the Unitologists. With the vision of Nicole guiding him, he comes upon a machine that unlocks the blocked Marker-infected parts of his mind, which Nicole claims will help him. He then fights his way to the Marker, where he encounters Tiedemann, whom Isaac is forced to kill. Isaac then approaches the Marker when the Nicole vision suddenly pulls Isaac into his own mind. There, Isaac encounters the parts affected by the Marker and the Nicole vision, who then reveals that the only way to make the Marker "whole" is to absorb the body and mind of the one who created it. After a lengthy battle, Isaac is able to destroy the Nicole vision and rid all traces of the Marker's influence from his mind, destroying the Marker in the process.

Upon exiting his mind, Isaac slumps to the ground, ready to accept his fate as the violent destruction of the Marker leads to the collapse of the station. Suddenly, Isaac receives a call from Ellie, who crashes the gunship through the ceiling. As Titan Station collapses, Isaac makes his way onto the gunship and they escape.

After the credits, an audio transmission is heard between two people, an unknown subordinate and his ranking superior (known only as "the Overseer" from one of the text logs that can be collected during the course of the game). The subordinate relays that Titan Station (which was Marker Site 12) and the Marker have been destroyed. The Overseer replies that the other sites will then have to “pick up the pieces”.

Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm: Now Available

Synopsis:

Bulletstorm takes place in the 26th century, where the Confederation of Planets are protected by a secret black-ops army called Dead Echo. The story follows space pirate Grayson Hunt, voiced by Steve Blum, and his cyborg partner Ishi Sato, whose squad went AWOL after discovering that they were tricked into killing innocent civilians, instead of the ruthless drug dealers and mass murderers that their commanding officer General Sarrano told them they were killing.

Ten years later, after a spontaneous and liquor-induced attempt to take revenge on the General and his forces, Hunt's and Sato's ship crash-landed on the planet Stygia, a former resort planet now overrun with meat-eating plants, feral mutant tribes, criminals, and Godzilla-sized monsters. After waking up, Hunt is told by the ship's doctor that Sato is gravely injured, and he requires an energy cell to power the surgery equipment needed to save him. Hunt goes off to retrieve an energy cell from a fallen escape pod, and makes it back to the ship to deliver to the doctor. The doctor successfully merges Sato's brain with the ship's AI in order to preserve his life. However, at the end of the procedure, bandits break into the ship through the air vents and kill the doctor. Hunt, who is dazed, takes a gun lying near him and shoots an explosive barrel, killing the bandits in the room and knocking himself and Sato unconscious. When he wakes up, he sees Sato lying against a rock, and the two decide to work together to survive, despite Sato's anger at Hunt for endangering and killing most of the crew as a result of his liquor-induced thirst for revenge.

Hunt and Sato search for a way off the planet, all while doing battle with the General's forces, who also crashed on Stygia after Hunt's attack. Along the way, they're joined by Trishka, a foul-mouthed woman with a dark past who also knows her way around a gun. Hunt, Sato, and Triska continue towards Sarrano. The trio confronts Sarrano on a collapsing building, where he pushes Trishka off. Sarrano tells Hunt that there is an armed DNA bomb in Sarrano's ship, which will exterminate all life in Stygia. Sarrano, Sato, and Hunt make their way to the ship. Hunt reveals that Trishka was the girl they rescued ten years ago, after assassinating her father, an innocent reporter by the name of Bryce Novak.

Upon arrival to the ship, Sarrano tricks Hunt into arming the bomb. Hunt and Sato are rescued by Trishka, who caught on to a wire to survive. They then make their way to Sarrano. Trishka holds Sarrano at gunpoint, and demands to know if he ordered her father's assasination. Sarrano tells her Hunt pulled the trigger, and while Hunt and Trishka are distracted by this revelation, Sarrano takes control of Sato's AI. Hunt is able to help Sato break Sarrano's control. Sato sacrfices his life for Hunt, who then seemingly kills Sarrano. With his dying breath, Sarrano ejects Hunt, Trishka, and his men back in onto the surface of Stygia. Sarrano's men and the duo race to Sarrano's ship, where there are still some escape pods. Trishka and Hunt beat Sarrano's squad, and escape before the bomb goes off. The ending reveals Sarrano is now a cyborg like Sato and that Sato has been revived.

Assassins Creed 2

Assassins Creed 2: Now Available

Synopsis:

Assassin's Creed II begins immediately after the events of the first game in 2012; Desmond Miles is still trapped by Abstergo Industries, the modern-day face of the Knights Templar, after being forced to use the Animus device to revisit genetic memories of the assassin Altaïr, and has discovered prophetic warnings from Subject 16, a previous captive, of the end of the world. He is soon rescued by Lucy Stillman, a mole for the Assassins within Abstergo, and takes him to meet two other Assassins, historian Shaun Hastings and computer expert Rebecca Crane. They request that Desmond use their version of the Animus, the Animus 2.0, to relive memories of another assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, not only to learn of the location of more Pieces of Eden which Abstergo is seeking, but to also train Desmond in the ways of the assassins through the bleeding effect of the Animus. During his exposure, Desmond finds himself briefly struck by a puzzling memory of Altaïr and his lover, a former Templar named Maria who became pregnant with his child. Desmond also finds various glyphs left by Subject 16 in the Animus which decoded and assembled to form a brief video of a man and woman, "Adam and Eve", running through a futuristic setting called "Eden".

Ezio's memories begin during the Renaissance in the 15th century, where his family is ensnared in a political plot, and his father and brothers are hanged. Ezio, following his father's last advice, finds his family's assassin tools, and flees the city with his mother and sister to the safety of uncle Mario's villa in the countryside. Mario assists Ezio to discover the people behind the conspiracy, leading Ezio from Florence, to San Gimignano, Forlì, Venice and eventually to Rome. As he identifies and assassinates more and more political figures, Ezio also gains several allies including Niccolò Machiavelli and Leonardo da Vinci, the latter of whom helps Ezio improve his equipment. Ezio eventually identifies the mastermind of the plot, the Spaniard Rodrigo Borgia, who ultimately sought to bring down the Medici family in Florence with the help of the Pazzi family and the Doge of Venice. Ezio finds Borgia in possession of the Apple, the same Piece of Eden that Altaïr had recovered centuries ago, and learns Borgia believes himself to be "The Prophet" that will lead the Templars to a fabled "Vault". Ezio is able to confront Borgia with the help of his allies and recover the Apple; Borgia flees before he can be killed. Ezio's allies reveal they are all Assassins, and see Ezio as their Prophet, allowing him to join their ranks.

Several years of Ezio's memories are inaccessible from the Animus, and Desmond only can revisit those starting in 1499, where Ezio and the Assassins plan to attack Borgia, now Pope Alexander VI at Vatican City. Ezio corners Borgia and strikes him down, but cannot come to kill him, as that will not bring back his family. Ezio uses the Apple and the Papal cross, which is also a Piece of Eden, and discovers the entrance to the Vault. Inside, he is confused when a holographic figure, calling herself Minerva, appears. Speaking directly to Desmond and those monitoring him in 2012, she explains that she was part of a far more advanced society that initially co-existed along with the early humans on Earth before they faced each other in war. A global catastrophe occurred that nearly wiped out both sides, and the survivors joined together to construct temples across the Earth to allow humans to prevent a similar catastrophe in the future. Before the hologram disappears, she warns Desmond, by name, that "the rest is up to you".

Shortly after recovering this memory, Desmond and the others are forced to flee with the Animus from their location as Abstergo troops surround it. As they head towards a safehouse, Lucy explains that there are newly-discovered weaknesses in the Earth's magnetic field; a solar flare striking this weakness would cause a similar level of global destruction as described by Minerva. Desmond resolves to help the Assassins find these temples and prepares to reenter the Animus.

Shift 2

Shift 2: Now Available

Synopsis:

Shift 2: Unleashed career mode is called "entertaining and interactive". Shift 2: Unleashed redefines the racing simulator genre by delivering authentic and true-to-life, dynamic crash physics, plus insanely detailed real-world cars, drivers and tracks. During their careers, virtual racers partake in a variety of motorsport — like drifting, muscle car racing, retro car racing, Endurance races and circuit competition (i.e. FIA GT3 European Championship) — to hone their driving skills in hopes of becoming the FIA GT1 world champion.

The game’s helmet-cam, which puts players right in the head of the racer is more than just in in-car camera. The helmet cam moves with the head of the driver, being drawn from side to side as the car takes corners and the driver is hit by G’s. As the car comes up to higher speeds, the edges of the screen will become blurred to simulate the tunnel-vision effect that drivers suffer when racing.

Night racing isn't new to the genre, but Shift 2's tweaking the concept a bit to support its spicier take on the sim. Essentially, it's using the reduced field of vision to scare our pants off. Damaged headlights dim the already dark settings, making extreme turns especially frightening if they're on the same side as a broken lamp. The Autolog system is now ‘Need for Speed DNA’. The system appears in Shift 2: Unleashed in a more-or-less identical design, but will sport extra features that will not only provide track times for unique events, but also segregate data based on quick race tracks, race types and automotive disciplines. This essentially means that Autolog will be more than just a system that throws down your friend’s times regardless of how, or when, they set them during their career.

Shift 2: Unleashed features more than 140 licensed vehicles available for racing and tuning, a smaller number compared with racing sims such as Forza Motorsport 3 and Gran Turismo 5. However, executive producer Marcus Nilsson said the studio wanted to concentrate on having only the must-have speedsters. Exclusively digitized for the game is the Pagani Huayra. There are also 40 real-world locations like Bathurst, Spa de Francochamps and Suzuka as well as fictional circuits like downtown London and Shanghai.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3: Holiday (2011)

Synopsis:

Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.
The story is the 'epic conclusion' to the story started in Mass Effect and continued in Mass Effect 2, as well as the conclusion of Commander Shepard's story. The tone is expected to continue to get darker, yet also bring back some fun and lightness and include a lot more humor.

The player's choices in the previous games are expected to have a much more significant impact on the plot than the choices in Mass Effect had on Mass Effect 2. As Mass Effect 3 is the end of the planned trilogy, the developers are not constrained by the necessity of allowing the story to diverge, yet also continue into the next chapter. This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player's actions in the first two chapters.

The story between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 is planned to be told through DLC for Mass Effect 2. The Lair of the Shadow Broker downloadable content is the first piece of DLC to begin to expand the story in preparation for Mass Effect 3. Arrival is the second and final piece of DLC that will expand the story and bridge the gap between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: November 11, 2011

Synopsis:

Plot

Skyrim is not a direct sequel to Oblivion; rather, it is a new chapter in the Elder Scrolls series, set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion. In the premise to Skyrim, the Empire began ceding territory to the Elven nations it once ruled, because there was no heir to the Emperor's throne. The Blades had no one to defend, and gradually died, were murdered, or secluded themselves from the rest of the world.[14] After the king of Skyrim was assassinated, a civil war broke out amongst the native Nord race – the majority being those who wished for Skyrim to secede from the Empire, and the rest being those who wished for Skyrim to stay in the Empire.

As with previous Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim begins with the player character as an unknown prisoner. The player character eventually learns that Skyrim's civil war is last in a sequence of prophetic events foretold by the Elder Scrolls, who also foretell of the return of Alduin, the Nordic god of destruction. Taking the form of a gigantic dragon, Alduin is prophesied to consume the world. The player character is the last Dovahkiin (Dragonborn), a dragon hunter anointed by the gods to help fend off the threat Alduin poses to Skyrim and Tamriel. Aiding the player is Esbern (voiced by Max von Sydow), one of the last of the Blades. The main quest of the game currently takes an estimated twenty hours to complete, in addition to the side-quests and guilds also available across Skyrim.
Setting

Skyrim's game world is the eponymous province of Skyrim. It is a northern province of Tamriel, the continent on which all the games in the series have taken place. Skyrim is roughly the same size as Oblivion's game world Cyrodiil, which is 16 square miles (41 square kilometers) in area. Within Skyrim lie five cities, larger than Cyrodiil's cities, as well as smaller townships and expanses of wilderness. Much of Skyrim's topography is mountainous, and dragons are frequently encountered when exploring the wilderness. There are over 130 dungeons scattered across Skyrim, and when the player enters a dungeon for the first time, the monsters within lock to the player's level permanently, even if visited later at a higher level. Fast-travelling is a returning feature, allowing the player to instantly travel to any location that has been previously visited.

The Lambent are evolving into a new enemy that threatens both the Locust and humanity. The Stranded also live on the island along with other survivors from E-Day.

According to Cliff Bleszinski , the game will "answer the majority of the questions that players have about the history of the world and what's going on". The story is being written by science fiction author Karen Traviss, who has authored three Gears novels and is working on the next two. Epic revealed that Clayton Carmine, brother of Anthony and Benjamin, of the previous two games, will appear in Gears of War 3. A vote was held between July 29 and September 6 to determine whether Carmine will live or die based on Xbox avatar T-Shirts available for purchase on Xbox live. Additionally, real life t-shirts were available from San Diego Comic-Con with all purchases. The voting campaign raised over $150,000, which was all donated to Child's Play.

Brink: May 17, 2011

Synopsis:

The game takes place in the near future in an enormous floating city known as "The Ark," off the coast of San Fransisco. It was only meant to support 5,000 people, but ended up having to provide for ten times as much. The thousands of citizens in the city quickly became unsatisfied with the lack of food, clothing, and particularly water, and formed a faction known simply as "The Resistance," demanding more of these essentials. After the Ark's leaders refused, they armed themselves to seize power for themselves and distribute water and food freely, claiming that the Ark has plenty of renewable resources. The Ark had little need for a security force at the outset, but quickly began recruitment and went on a firearm shopping spree to counter the Resistance. Now the only place on the Ark where there is any level of peace is the area around the capitol, where the Ark's leaders are frantically trying to contact the outside world for aid.

F.3.A.R

F.3.A.R: May 24, 2011

Synopsis:

Nine months ago, the F.E.A.R. Pointman and his squad were tapped to stop an unknown man who had commandeered a battalion of Replicas at the Armacham research facility in the Northwestern US city of Fairport. During the mission, the Point Man learned that the man was not working alone - in fact, the very people the Point Man was ordered to subdue were his telepathic, cannibalistic brother, Paxton Fettel, and his tortured and psychically powerful mother, Alma Wade — products of Armacham Technology Corporation's perverse paranormal experiments. Despite this revelation, the Point Man moved forward with standing F.E.A.R. team orders to stop the targets at any cost. In a last-ditch attempt to end the pair’s homicidal rampage, the F.E.A.R. team set in motion an explosive series of events that seemingly accomplished their goal, but at the cost of ravaging the city, its inhabitants and almost all of the Point Man’s squad mates.

Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age 2: Now Available

Synopsis:

Set in the mythical world of Thedas, Dragon Age II tells the story of Hawke,[2] who fled the nation of Ferelden during the events of Dragon Age: Origins and arrived in the neighboring state of Kirkwall as a refugee. Within the span of a decade, Hawke would rise in power and influence to become the legendary "Champion of Kirkwall", and the center of events that change the course of Thedas forever. The game focuses on Hawke's rise to power and is framed through flashbacks by one of Hawke's old companions, Varric, who relates the Champion's 'true story' to Cassandra Pentaghast, a Seeker of Thedas' religious Chantry.[5]

Choices that players made in Dragon Age: Origins, its DLC content, and expansion pack Awakening can be imported into Dragon Age II and are reflected by allusions to Thedas's political state as well as appearances by past characters.
